Hi, Loobyloo, good to hear from you!
I'm sorry to say that there won't be any new Mermaid Curse or Indigo books. However, I'm working on several new ideas. I'm too superstitious to say anything about them until they're a bit more developed (and, hopefully, sold!) but I'll keep everyone posted as soon as there's any definite news.
All the best,
Louise

No more Indigo books, eh?
How unfortunate.
How very unfortunate.
I LIKE Indigo. She is my favorite character not only of your books, but of any author I have read to date. (Which is several thousand)Indigo has a flavor to her that is unlike any other fictional character. To know such a personality is "shelved," as it were, is a true loss to the literary world.
You were quite expressive with Indigo. Her character was more "human" and "real" because you did not skip the little things that make a person who they are. Indigo loathed herself at times, as do we all. She despaired and triumphed with the rest of us. Her feelings and development were expressed in more ways than merely reading the actions and words of a character and judging who they are from that.
She got hot when it was hot and cold when it was cold. Far too often authors skip such things in return for extra dialogue or to describe an animated action setting. As I said, I LIKE Indigo.
Indigo was a developmental stage for you as well, was she not? If I recall, you were having a bit of a time in your life while you wrote her. Perhaps that's where her extensive character comes from?

Hi, Lu,
Sorry to disappoint you so much!I feel guilty... However, the reason why I said 'no more Indigo' is because no expansions of story have suggested themselves to me yet. If that should change, though, it would be a different matter. I wonder how I would depict her now? You're quite right when you say I was having 'a bit of a time' in my life back then; thankfully that's all in the past and I've changed quite a lot. So would Indigo have changed, too? Maybe I should experiment with a short story. If I do, I'll make it available on the site and see what people think.

Louise,
I cannot say that I am "disappointed," so much as I was hopeful.
And yes, I agree. Indigo would necessarily have developed in time.Any good story needs a protagonist and an antagonist with which the story is built. Though Indigo was often her own worst nightmare, I think one that really taxes the limits of her mind and "abilities" should be about right. Perhaps one that found out her secret and has designs to magically or otherwise take those gifts.
The demons she fought were built of the evils that men do. Men, unfortunately have many more evils than just those. Greed being one of the most compelling forces of evil in history.Louise, I do not really know what story or plot line would be good. Nor can I say whether or not you should write more, that's up to you. I just like Indigo.

Another thought...
Indigo could, in fact, develop into another series.
Perhaps that "someone whom found out her secret" lost someone or something quite dear to them and, being in a position of great power, wishes nothing more than her destruction.
While being hounded by this ever-present maniac she helps people along her travels with whatever plight might be plaguing them. Perhaps it is something caused by this menace that wishes her demise and she feels compelled to make his/her life miserable at every opportunity. Perhaps it is the Earth Mother herself taking out her revenge upon a people for their transgressions. Knowing how that feels she might be inclined to do what she can for them. Perhaps the Emissary has new tasks for her to do. Correct a bit of backlash from the demons she had once set loose.Much like the old stories I realize, but, unfortunately, I am not a good writer and storylines do not come easily to me. My works are of a much simpler nature than those magnificent worlds you have created.
Depicting her would be simpler, I should think, as she is much wiser now and is quite an accomplished and ingenious adversary. A fair challenge for any new "nemesis" that comes along in that she has learned a few new tricks and has had time to make such skills more perfect. Though a few new gifts from the Emissary to make things interesting might help as well. Something new to learn. She has mellowed with the passing of time. Her head is clearer and sharper and decisions are much easier to make. I recall she had such challenges in the past. A new adversary to her would have to be brilliant.
Just my thoughts. I hope something in them might suggest a story to you. (or a few!)
If you do post a short based on her character and her world, I would love to be first in line here to read it! Though I am not sure how to elbow my way to the front of the line on the internet! "Indigo" (translated: Louise) taught me a fair bit about myself at a time when it was necessary for me to change certain characteristics of my own. (I needed to grow up!) So one can understand that I am rather partial to the series.

Hmm... interesting thoughts, Lu, and I like your ideas. I'll ponder further... And I'm very glad that Indigo helped you in some small way. Maybe you're right: that's what she's about...

Thanks for considering it.
With your current projects I realize this one will in no way be a priority for you.
If you do end up with a new publishing from that series I hope it is widely read.Posted 1 year ago # -
Thank you!

Bye the bye....
How, pray tell, did the demons get into the Tower of Regrets in the first place? I've wondered about that.Posted 1 year ago # -
I would love another book like that but since there are no more i dont really feel upset. I dont want to make you feel bad. :)
