I have only just heard of Louise's passing and wanted to offer my condolences to her partner, family and friends.

I believe that we only met once through a mutual friend not long after myself and my former husband moved to London from South Florida in the spring of 1976.

If memory serves (and often it is a bit patchy these days) we came over for dinner and talked a lot about books and writing.

I know over the years I bought some of her novels when I saw them. I am currently sorting out my own house which has become rather over cluttered with older books that I know I will never have enough time to read again.

As I know how hard some titles can be to find if out of print I'll certainly check back.

Sacred.... That name rings many bells, mayhap you also be a figbashed areiel at all?

Anywho, I just managed to gather the full set of Indigo. My mum has the set in mint condition and I have spent months collecting from Ebay and Amazon trying to get a set that is in readable condition. Thankfully however I managed to gather the books, sadly, from what appears to have been a deceased estate. They are in good condition, not great. Thankfully this was not an issue with my new Time Master set (the glue disintegrated on my last set) and I have brand new ones coming in the mail.

I know that Louise has sadly passed away but I think that if at all possible it would be nice if someone, anyone was given the go-ahead to use scanning software to move the books into an e-book format (at the very least) or have a publishing group re-release them. My personal set has been covered with contact and they are part of my no-loan library, they're just too precious.

"You might be interested to know that during my search I did come across a full set of pirated ebooks for all of Indigo books; they were alas for the Spanish translation. You may want to see about shutting that down or getting paid for it. Ping me if you want the links."

I fully agree with Authors being paid for their work. When we start writing we don't think about money, we think about our work seeing the light of day, having other people read and appreciate it, as well as criticizing it. After all, only when you have read it well should you critique :D However that said, if I had the time, I would type the Indigo saga up book by book just so that I could keep a set till the day that I die, or in my case, go very very blind and make my children read it to me ^.^

I'd hate to see these books fade into the past is what I'm getting at, most of Louise's other books are still in print and/or able to get copies of the fairly easily, but getting a set of Indigo's is like pulling teeth from a blue whale.

Greetings from someone firmly in the love Indigo camp. Louise, it is certainly true that your writing, and even more so your story-telling, have evolved since then. But that journey, like Indigo's herself, is an inescapable part of what makes her special. You are a better, more nuanced writer now, but there is also a rawness to Indigo that it would be well-nigh impossible to go back to even if you were inclined to try.

Tragically however, my copies of this book were lost when I moved to the UK, so please add me to the list of people who would dearly love to obtain a copy of these books in either hard or soft copy.

You might be interested to know that during my search I did come across a full set of pirated ebooks for all of Indigo books; they were alas for the Spanish translation. You may want to see about shutting that down or getting paid for it. Ping me if you want the links.

Take care, and thanks for sharing your journey with us.

Yeah, Cyllan is such an amazing character, totally unlike any other in Literature that we had to pay her tribute. What drew me to using the name was a desire to bestow her courage and faith in herself despite the pressure and upbringing she had. I mean she forsook an entire world and her religion simply because she knew in her heart that Tarod was more than he thought or anyone else thought. I wanted my daughter to have that as a lesson. If you know and trust yourself, you will be able to change anything! Such a great message for girls. She's only four now and she knows that her name comes from this collection of books but she has to be older to know them. I won't even spoil anything about them for her so she doesn't know Tarod or Yandros or anyone yet! I can't wait to talk about them with her.
Anyway, I'm married and we have two kids. A boy and of course Cyllan. Our son is 8. We live in Tennessee and I'm a mom and a herbalist. It's not as exciting as biking around the UK.
When's your trip start? I think the blog is a great idea. You should link up to some travel sites too.
So what about you? Do you like your job? Are you married? I'm guessing single since you are on a unicycle.
THe list of great books to read keeps growing sometimes by the hour. I had never heard of The Cheysuli Chronicles but I'll have to add them to my list after I googled them. What else or who else do you read? I read almost everything and anybody so I'm always looking for suggestions. I'm just starting A Discovery of Witches and while I'm only on page 6, it seems promising. Hope to hear from you soon!

You named your daughter Cyllan!! That is awesome :D
Yeah Indigos wolf was called Grimya and if it's been 15 years since you read them then you have a great memory!
I haven't read either Mirage or Sleep of Stone but believe me they are now on the list...
I am now on the last few pages of the Cheysuli Chronicles so I'll be starting to read the Star Shadows probably tomorrow.
Once my unicycle trip actually starts I'll be making a blog for people to follow so I'll make sure I put the link up here.
So I'd like to know a bit more about you...Where in America are you, do you work or study, married or single?

Hi James! I've read the Indigo series about 15 years ago and plan on re reading it again soon. I love it and it is my second favorite of Louise's series. I remember crying at the end because it was perfect. We have a cat named Indigo after her. If I ever get a dog I'always said she'd have to be like the one in the book. Grimaya, or something close right?
The Time Master and it's sequel, The Chaos Gate trilogy are my favorites with the Time Master being my favorite books of all time. We named our daughter Cyllan and I've yet to meet anyone who knows the books although EVERYONE asks where her name comes from. I've read Mirage and Sleep of Stone but only the first in the prequel to THe Time Master because in America she's not as known here and her books aren't easily found here. But I'll be ordering some soon.
I'm impressed about your unicycling trip. It sounds like an amazing idea.
The spammers are drawn here. It's crazy! Hope to hear from you soon!

I was writing a review of one of my favorites books of Loiuse, "The outcast" and found out about her passing two years ago... For me it's a heartbreaking news. Maybe is a little to late but my best wishes to her husband Cas and all the people that loved her.
And Louise, wherever you are, you will always be one of my favorite authors of all time. I will keep reading your books until I'm to old to read and pass them to my children in the years to come so they will be inspired by the worlds you created.
Thanks for everything and rest in peace.

Hi there eve! I think this topic is a great idea as i have no real friends that read books at all, hence i have no-one to discuss them with...
The initiate was the first book from Louise that i read and in a way Tarods life paralleled my own. He didn't get the best start in life but when he discovered his powers life soon started changing. I discovered my own magic in the books i read :)
I'm not sure what to say except the characters and plot of The Initiate took a hold of me in a way no book has before!

Wow this is an amazing find!
I have no idea who Shar chose, and sadly no idea what will happen to these amazing books. Hopefully at some point they will be finished. Anyone else have any clues?

Hi guys.
As we know, Bad Seed was being written when Louise passed away. I don't know if it's ever going to be finished and/or published, but the one question I needed answering was this: Who did Shar choose? Was it Hestor or Reyni? Which one?!

I found Bad Seed on Goodreads.com and they provided a blurb.

Turns out the father of Shar's children was actually Kitto.

From the Goodreads website:
"Brother and sister Marloe and Silve are children of a burgeoning and powerful dynasty. Their mother, Shar, was a prodigiously powerful channeller of supernatural forces as a child, and their father, Kitto has an almost telekinetic affinity with animals of all kinds. Now, Marloe and Silve have come of age. As teenagers they are beginning to understand exactly what gifts they have inherited from their parents. And now they are faced with their first deadly challenge when a century-old sorceress kidnaps their dear friend Jianna, with a plan to channel her own particularly twisted brand of magic through the girl. Jianna will be left an empty shell, if Marloe and Silve cannot find her in time. It will take every ounce of their powers, and will find them tackling spirits and entities on a terrifying scale. But they must find the courage and take on evil, to claim back good..."

Its been a long time since I've posted anything on this site, and I am glad to see some new people joined and others are still around and kicking as ever. It made me very sad to see that this site seemed abandoned, but now I see the possibility of getting it back on track.
Spread the word that the site is here and comment and take a little time to discuss books, and tales and whatnot :D

What I want to suggest is to start a small book discussion, beginning with The Initiate, just to get the feel of what people think and got from the story, lets get this started, come on who goes first!? ^_^

This is to my opinion the best book in the series of Chaos and Order. Its so moving and breathtaking in every chapter something within you gives in to the story. Its a story that needs to be recognized as the genius it is, so spread the word people!! Get your copies and once you have read it, spread the word of how good it is so others can share the awesome experience that is reading these books.

Yup those sites have done wonders for me too!
I also suggest mundania and the releases they have had for those hard to get older versions and another site that helped me out a lot was abebooks.
Good luck!

Its gorgeous that you will continue to give life to her books even after her passing, its incredible to think that over a year has passed since she left us, and still every month i keep hearing and reading stories about people being touched by her books and stories. She was absolutely a remarkable woman. And even though it might seem silly I thank you greatly for keeping her work alive.

Moonset is finally available on Mundania! Got the eBook the moment I saw it... need instant Louise Cooper gratification... and devoured it within a day. What an incredible book... a fitting, albeit heartbreaking culmination to a powerful trilogy. Not going to spoil the book for anyone who hasn't read it (and I earnestly urge all who haven't to get hold of a copy). Louise, you have indeed crafted a masterpiece which is so raw and intense... truly memorable. Thank you so much...
